As a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC), Symmetry Housing invests back into the communities it serves.
We work in partnership with housing associations, local authorities and other organisations to provide quality homes at the lowest possible cost point. This model creates happy places for residents like Ryan to enjoy.
Our homes are well maintained and managed, fulfilling our primary goal to make sure that residents in our properties have a quality home, no matter what their circumstances might be.

Governance and Viability
Symmetry Housing benefits from the highest possible levels of Governance and Viability, being operated by ethical, talented and skilled leaders, as well as a range of professional industry partners.
Symmetry Housing delivers the best quality homes for vulnerable people in the sector. We achieve this by having the highest levels of governance and viability; operational delivery; investment committee and asset management.
We have listened to the concerns of the sector, the regulator of social housing and built a strategy to deliver new higher standards of governance and viability that will exceed current guidelines. As a Community Interest Company (CIC), Symmetry Housing is not regulated by the Regulator for Social Housing (RSH), however Symmetry seeks to have the highest standard and takes the RSH policies into consideration.
Our governance arrangements have an effective risk management and internal controls assurance framework. This protects our social housing assets and manages our resources effectively to ensure financial viability is maintained, while ensuring that social housing assets are not put at undue risk.
- Symmetry Housing will be governed at the highest level, with Chris Phillips, the former Chairman of Places for People, leading and chairing the board.
- In order to reach the highest levels of governance & viability, Symmetry Housing shall consider the guidelines set forth by the:
- Regulator of social housing,
- National statement of expectation (What good looks like),
- Value for Money Standard and supporting Code of Practice introduced in 2018.
- Symmetry Housing has conducted proper stress testing and scenario planning, concluding that the crystallisation of important risks, as well as the combination of risks identified, under a fair range of adverse scenarios, will not have a significant impact on the organisation’s long-term ability to operate.
- There would be no potential loss of the homes for the vulnerable client group housed.
- Symmetry Housing is confident in its capacity to handle moderate risks linked with economic and policy cycles, as well as adverse developments in its operational environment. Symmetry Housing has put in place suitable mitigations and controls to safeguard housing assets and renters in the long run.
- Over the life of its contracts, Symmetry Housing’s financial viability risks can be efficiently managed or minimised.
- Symmetry Housing’s contracts provide comprehensive protection, allowing it to mitigate all negative consequences.
- Symmetry Housing intends to raise funds in order to purchase freehold properties.
